The risks are not hypothetical: arbitrary account suspensions with no recourse. Compliance grey zones that become courtroom examples. Revenue flowing offshore while local providers disappear. And customer data accessible to foreign governments without their knowledge or consent.

Regulation is catching up. NIS2 is in full swing. GDPR enforcement is maturing. But compliance aside, this is about ownership. Our infrastructure should serve us, not surveil us. It should not be used to profile our employees and customers, with the aim of creating monopolistic anti-European products or for enforced AI training.
